As a family business that has literally grown-up with Marin County for over 65 years, we’ve seen the way the world’s changed and what an organization like Marin Cleaners can do to better our business practices in an environmentally sound way while providing the best service we can for our community. We are truly excited to be offering the GreenEarth Cleaning method to our customers. It can be easy to say you’re eco-friendly but we’re actually practicing it!

We’re not only proving our commitment to sustaining a better environment, we’re also listening to our customers demand for using an eco-friendly solvent for their clothes, presenting a beautifully finished garment that’s now odor free and softer to the touch, as well as, providing an overall healthier work environment for our employees. GreenEarth, an environmentally safe cleaning method is good for the earth because it is not a ground contaminant and has been exempted by the EPA from VOC regulation.

The GreenEarth solvent we use to clean with is essentially pure liquefied sand (silicone). In fact, it’s so gentle that it’s the base ingredient in hundreds of personal care products such as skin lotions, hair conditioners and deodorant. Gone are the times of using the industry standard, perclorethylene which has since been banned in California. Please visit www.greenearthcleaning.com for more information.

The “Green” steps we take beyond cleaning your garments…

Marin Cleaners has taken every measure to ensure that toxic or hazardous materials have always been safely disposed of, such as fluorescent tubes, used filters and old residues by utilizing a certified waste hauler and recycler. When other cleaners were disposing of hazardous materials in the dumpster, Marin Cleaners paid extra to have waste disposed of in an environmentally acceptable way.

In terms of water preservation, Marin Cleaners began conserving water back in the 1970’s during the time of the great Marin drought. We created a state-of-the-art “Re-use System” to help save water without compromising the quality of our laundry.

Marin Cleaners was one of the first drycleaners in the country to supply customers with hanger caddy’s to promote the recycling of hangers, which we still do to this day. We are also committed to using less plastic by selling reusable bags by Green Garmento, a 4 in 1 bag that can be used as a hamper, laundry bag, garment bag and duffle. We are also a member of the Green Business Bureau. You can find more information on our certification and continuous efforts at www.GBB.org.
